According to Statista, Apple achieved nearly 36.8 percent gross profit on hardware in 2025. That is roughly half the margin from its services division, which reached a historic 75.4 percent last year. In contrast, ASUS has witnessed its profit margins shrink to around 15.3 percent in recent quarters, less than one-third of Apple's 2025 average of 46.9 percent. The immediate future looks challenging for ASUS and other Windows OEMs. HP recently informed investors that memory now constitutes over one-third of its PC expenses. If memory shortages persist, many will have to increase prices to maintain margins.
