We view the embodied fly as an important first step. It is not the endpoint, and the model currently has many significant simplifications. But it may be a useful testbed for connectome-constrained sensorimotor control, for evaluating candidate brain-body interfaces, and for making the problem of embodied emulation concrete enough to improve. We also hope that our demonstration serves as an interesting and exciting demonstration of how brain model embodiment might work.
